Manchester City advanced to the Champions League semi-finals after defeating Bayern Munich 4-1 on aggregate on Wednesday. City will now take against Real Madrid, who will be managed by famed coach Pep Guardiola.
Erling Haaland missed a penalty but subsequently scored in the 57th minute of the game to clinch the team’s victory over Bayern Munich. Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich scored from the penalty spot to draw the game 1-1, but it was not enough to overcome City’s lead.
Bernardo Silva, City’s midfielder, commented on the team’s impending match against Real Madrid, who eliminated them from the competition last season. Silva voiced faith in the team’s capacity to win, saying they would “definitely go for it.”
Manchester City has been a dominant force in English football over the last decade, winning the Premier League title four times. They have yet to won the Champions League, with their best result coming in the 2015-16 season, when they reached the semi-finals. With their present form and confidence, the team will be expecting to win their first Champions League trophy this year.
