Following the announcement that Lisandro Martinez will miss the remainder of Manchester United’s season due to a fractured metatarsal, the 25-year-old has expressed gratitude to the club’s supporters.
Martinez was forced off the field during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla on Thursday, and he has since admitted that his first season with the Red Devils is over.
Martinez reflected on his injury in an Instagram post, saying he will use it to grow and come back stronger. Meanwhile, he will continue to assist his teammates in achieving their goals.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and messages that I have received. During this difficult time, they have truly given me strength and motivation. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you.”
Lisandro Martinez will miss the rest of the season due to a fractured metatarsal bone in his foot, according to a statement released by Manchester United.
However, the club is confident that the Argentine defender will be fully recovered in time for the start of the next season.
Lisandro Martinez has made 45 appearances for Manchester United since joining from Ajax for £48.5 million last summer, and he has been an important presence in the team’s defense. Despite his diminutive stature, the 25-year-old has established himself as a dependable and competent Premier League player.
He was also a member of Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad in December. However, with Martinez and his regular partner Raphael Varane both out for several weeks, Manchester United may be forced to rely on a makeshift backline in their upcoming games.
Starting with the team’s game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are expected to fill the void left by the injured duo.
