Manchester United are ready to go all out to recruit a £320,000-a-week star, according to reports
Manchester United made a strong bid to capture Frenkie de Jong last year, but the youngster chose to remain with Barcelona.
According to recent media sources, the Red Devils have not given up on enticing the Netherlands international.
According to Sport, Manchester United are willing to press for the acquisition of De Jong in the upcoming transfer window.
According to the Catalan site, the acquisition of the Dutch midfielder would be a major signing for Erik ten Hag, who is prepared to make another attempt to bring his colleague to Old Trafford.
After defeating archrivals Real Madrid at the weekend, the 25-year-old star was asked if he would join Manchester United in the summer, and he did not rule it out altogether. According to the former Ajax player:
“No, I don’t believe so. Of course, you never know. But I’m content in Barcelona.”
The £320,000-a-week star (The Mirror) has been hugely important under Xavi’s management and should be able to win his first La Liga title this season, with Barcelona leading by 12 points.
According to Sport, De Jong is aware that a transfer to Manchester United is an option. Furthermore, it is said that the continually developing English team, as well as the presence of Ten Hag, may persuade him to join.
