Bruno Fernandes scored two stunning goals as Manchester United reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
The first was a penalty, which showed nerves of steel to send Bernd Leno the wrong way after a stunning few minutes that saw two Fulham players sent off after the penalty was awarded.
Fernandes then found a rocket from the top corner to secure a 3-1 victory for Manchester United.
This was the first time he scored two goals in one game this season for United, and it helped him move up the club’s top scorers list.
Fernandes scored 60 goals
Fernandes scored his 10th goal this season, becoming the second player to score twice after Marcus Rashford.
The Portuguese star has already scored 58 goals for Manchester United since joining in 2020. He has now scored 60 goals for the club.
Fernandes has now surpassed two heroes from United’s last title-winning side ten years ago, Robin van Persie and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.
He is level with Van Persie on 58 and one behind Hernandez on 59.
It is a great achievement for the midfielder to reach such a level. He is already ahead of Dimitar Berbatov (56), and Juan Mata and Roy Keane (51), and Teddy Sheringham (46).
Fernandes is now chasing Dwight Yorke (66), while Eric Cantona scored a distant but achievable 82.
Marcus Rashford has exactly doubled Fernandes’ tally, now scoring 120 goals for the club, one less than Andy Cole.
