Ratcliffe arrives at Old Trafford as the Qataris prepare a new bid

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team will pay a visit to Old Trafford on Friday, following in the footsteps of a delegation representing Sheikh Jassim, who is now formulating a fresh updated bid for the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will take center stage in the campaign to take up Manchester United from the Glazer family on Friday.

A committee representing Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani visited the club’s facilities at Old Trafford on Thursday.

After seeing the club and scrutinizing the finances, the Qatari financier intends to make a second better proposal for the club.

Ratcliffe made a proposal ahead of the first deadline in February and is currently flying in from the south of France. Ineos co-owners Andy Currie and John Reece, Ineos Sport chiefs Rob Nevin and Jean Claude Blanc, and Ineos director of sport – and former Team Sky chief – Dave Brailsford are anticipated to join him.

They will now have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the Qataris and make their mark. According to reports yesterday, Ratcliffe was hoped that his “personal touch” would help him become the Glazers’ favored bidder.

Yet, it is unclear if the Glazers would really authorise a full sale of United or seek foreign financing.
