Alex Telles, the Brazilian full-back who is on loan at Sevilla from Manchester United, may reunite with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Spanish media outlet AS has reported that Al-Nassr is interested in signing Telles on a permanent basis, despite the 30-year-old’s existing wage reportedly putting off many potential suitors.
Telles’ future at United seems uncertain because he has fallen behind Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the pecking order at left-back, and United has ample cover at that position, including academy talent Brandon Williams.
In 2020, Telles joined United under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who oversaw his £15.4 million move from Porto, and he still has a year left on his four-year contract.
Al-Nassr has been spending heavily on European superstars, such as Ronaldo, to raise the profile of Middle Eastern football.
Ronaldo’s contract with United was terminated after he criticized the club, his former teammates, and Ten Hag during an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo agreed to a £175 million-a-year contract with Al-Nassr, which paved the way for the club to recruit one of football’s biggest names.
Telles has had a relatively busy season in Spain, making 35 appearances for Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side in all competitions, including coming off the bench in Sevilla’s 3-0 Europa League quarter-final victory over United.
He is still a foundation of the Brazil national team and played for the South American nation in the disappointing World Cup campaign.
However, a move to the lesser Saudi league could place his international future in doubt. Galatasaray, his former club, has also been touted as another possible destination for the left-back.
