Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is said to have made the Glazers a lucrative offer that could give him an advantage in the Manchester United takeover.
The Qatari sheikh, according to The Sun, has offered to host NFL games in the Middle East.
The Glazers own the NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a well-known team in the league.
According to sources, the Sun:
“Sheikh Jassim has stated unequivocally that he wishes to purchase the club and has the necessary funds.”
“He was impressed with the Glazers and hopes to work with them again in the future.”
“As part of his proposal, the Glazers could bring their NFL team to Qatar for an exhibition game in Doha’s national stadium.”
“This would help cement Qatar’s stature as a destination for sporting spectacles while also providing the Glazers with an opportunity to spread their NFL brand and profit.”
Sheikh Jassim’s offer would provide the Glazers with an excellent opportunity to broaden their team’s global appeal.
It could give Qatar a distinct advantage in its bid to purchase Manchester United.
Both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim have made second bids for the club.
The Raine Group will now evaluate the bids and determine the next steps.
