Brendan Rodgers, Antonio Conte, Graham Potter… The Premier League ‘s managerial merry-go-round continues to spin.
Another two Premier League managers left their posts on Sunday, bringing the season total to 13.
Leicester City and Chelsea parted ways with Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter, respectively, after their teams were defeated this weekend. Leicester are fighting for relegation, and Chelsea have dropped to 11th, but their dismissals at this late stage in the season surprised many.
With Rodgers’ dismissal, half of all Premier League clubs have now changed managers at least once this season. So far, 13 managerial changes have been recorded, easily exceeding the previous high of ten sackings seen in each of 2021/22, 2017/18, 2013/14, and 2008/09.
Both Southampton and Chelsea have fired managers twice this season.
Which Premier League managers have been fired?
Throughout the season, there has been a steady stream of managerial sackings, with a record number of Premier League bosses being shown the door. With the exception of December, when Premier League action was halted for the World Cup, every month since the start of the season has seen at least one dismissal.
Here’s the full list of Premier League managers sacked so far in 2022/23…
Scott Parker, Bournemouth (30 August)
Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea (7 September)
Bruno Lage, Wolverhampton Wanderers (2 October)
Steven Gerrard, Aston Villa (20 October)
Ralph Hasenhuttl, Southampton (6 November)
Frank Lampard, Everton (23 January)
Jesse Marsch, Leeds United (6 February)
Nathan Jones, Southampton (12 February)
Patrick Vieira, Crystal Palace (17 March)
Antonio Conte, Tottenham Hotspur (26 March)
Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City (2 April)
Graham Potter, Chelsea (2 April)
Is it possible that there will be more sackings this season? Other clubs are unlikely to make changes at this late stage as we enter the crucial run-in period. However, with nine clubs still in danger of relegation, some managers may be in jeopardy.
West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, the only two teams in the bottom half yet to change managers, are said to have considered a change in recent months.
