For the first half of the match against Fulham, Man United manager Erik ten Hag was observed frequently giving the players a specific order.
While Manchester United continues to perfect his favored style, Erik ten Hag thinks they can enhance their overloads.
Ten Hag could be seen frequently gesturing to the far side during the first half of United’s FA Cup quarter-final triumph against Fulham during a lackluster performance.
After falling behind 1-0, United came back to defeat Fulham at Old Trafford for the seventh time this year. They did so by scoring twice in the space of three minutes after Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic, two players for Fulham, and manager Marco Silva were all sent off in the 72nd minute.
Ten Hag said, “I think we played the first half very decently, not particularly in possession. “We didn’t [use] that well in possession; I believe we needed to employ more of an overload on the left side. Yet, we generated excellent opportunities by pushing and attacking transitions.
“While I’m glad and satisfied with the performance, I believe there is still much potential for development on the ball. We need to remain on the ball more, maintain greater calm when playing, identify where the overload is, and exploit it to draw opponents to us.
“Today’s attacking transitions provided some nice instances of how we may improve and gain more from them because our squad is equipped with the necessary skills and talents.
I thought we played the first half really nicely, not particularly in possession, Ten Hag stated. We didn’t really [use] that well in possession; I think we needed to use more left-side overload. Yet, by pushing through transitions and assaulting them, we created fantastic possibilities.
“Although I’m happy and pleased with the performance, I think the ball still has a lot of room for improvement. We must play with more composure, stay on the ball longer, locate the overload, and take use of it to lure the opposition to us.
